Fund for Leaders Honors 2008 Scholarship Recipients Supporters of the ELCA Fund for Leaders honored 33 first-year seminary students this month. The students received full- or partial-tuition scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year through the Fund. Each recipient is enrolled in one of eight ELCA seminaries and is preparing for ordained ministry. Since the Fund began awarding scholarships in 2000, 408 students have benefited. The Fund has distributed a total of more than $4 million in tuition support. More Stewardship Tips for Congregations in a Time of Financial Crisis With the current economic downturn in the United States, some Lutherans may find it difficult to remain steadfast in their giving. ELCA Stewardship offers tips for congregations that "want to grow a culture of generosity." Although financial downturns create uncertainty and fear, generosity has never been a matter of how much money we have.
