During a recent visit to LA, poet, essayist, and songwriter Sam Taylor read and discussed his work in a Poetry.LA studio session. His first book, Body of the World, published by Ausable Press and now available from Copper Canyon Press, was a finalist for Foreword Magazine's Poetry Book of the Year. Currently living in Virginia, Taylor is completing a second collection to include poems that have appeared in The New Republic, Orion, Agni Online, Michigan Quarterly Review, New Letters, and Beloit Poetry Journal. He is also the lyricist for the band Some Say Fire.
In a featured appearance at Cobalt Poets (Canoga Park, CA) in February, Bruce Williams read from his collection, The Mojave Road and Other Journeys (Tebot Bach, 2010). A noted member of the L.A. poetry world, he has published four chapbooks and his work has appeared in O'Brien Literary Spectactor and numerous literary journals and anthologies. Willams, who has taught English and creative writing for many years at Mt. San Antonio College, lives in San Dimas, CA, where he frequentily explores the desert in one of his jeeps.
