It has the statutory powers to collect, analyze and disseminate populationdemographic data in the country. It is also mandated to undertake demographic sample surveys, compile, collate and publish migration and civil registration statistics as well as monitor the country's Population Policy.
News and Events NPC CONDUCTS 2010 INTERNAL MIGRATION SURVEY In fulfilment of its mandate to provide for the nation accurate and reliable demographic data for planning purpose, the National Population Commission has conducted the 2010 Internal Migration Survey (IMS). The fieldwork for the 2010 IMS took place from 23rd February to 19th March 2010 in all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory. 30 clusters were covered in each state of the federation and the FCT. Questionnaires were administered on three categories of respondents during the survey. These are Migrants, Non Migrants4 and Return Migrants. read more...
USE CENSUS DATA FOR PLANNING – YAR'ADUA The National Population Commission on Thursday, 5th June 2009 submitted the priority tables of the 2006 Population and Housing Census to President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua at the State house, Abuja.
